Engineering Alliance, an exclusive program offered only to PLTW schools, provides teachers with a new, exciting resource for building relationships with and among their students. Engineering Alliance gives participants the opportunity to showcase STEM learning and 21st Century Skills through exciting competitions and the mastery of leadership components. Through the excitement of competition and the camaraderie of teamwork and leadership, Engineering Alliance participants advance their thinking and skills.
Competition and accomplishment result in improved student motivation and increased opportunities for student recognition. As students work in teams and individually to answer questions and solve problems, they apply the engineering concepts taught in the PLTW curriculum.
How Does It Work?
Engineering Alliance is easy to use, continually updated to keep current with the PLTW curriculum, and well worth the cost. You’ll receive all the materials you need to start your student activities and competitions right away and it’s available now.
With two components, one for middle school students and one for high school students, the Engineering Alliance offers learning experiences appropriate for your students’ levels of learning.
- Engineering Alliance for middle school consists of competitions and leadership activities that align with the Design and Modeling and Automation and Robotics units.
- Engineering Alliance for High School consists of competitions and leadership activities that align with the Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics and Engineering Design and Development courses.
Because Engineering Alliance competitions and leadership activities are aligned with the PLTW curriculum they can be integrated seamlessly into the existing program. A competitive event is featured for each of PLTW’s required courses. Competitions are accessed through teacher and student Web portals and are accessible anytime. The competitions take place within your school, which means each of your students can participate. Online materials are provided with step-by-step guidance on how to incorporate the competitions and leadership lessons into your course of study.
